Your spreadsheet logic.
Turned into real software.
Most businesses have a handful of spreadsheets that quietly run their operations. Shared over email, updated by multiple people, trusted by no one. We take those specific sheets, reverse-engineer the logic, and turn them into a proper application โ at a fraction of the cost of a ground-up custom build.
The data model already exists.
We just make it trustworthy.
Spreadsheets are often the most honest documentation of how a business actually operates. The logic is there โ the formulas, the validation rules, the lookup tables. What's missing is access control, an audit trail, real-time data, and the ability for more than one person to use it at the same time without breaking something.
- Logic extraction โ we map every formula, rule, and workflow in your sheets
- Role-based access โ the right people see and edit the right data
- Real-time data โ no more emailing a file and waiting for it to come back
- Dashboards that replace the manual reporting your team currently does every week
From shared spreadsheet
to production software.
The speed comes from the fact that the requirements are already written โ they're sitting in your Excel file.
We review every sheet, formula, lookup, and edge case. We ask questions about the parts that are inconsistent, undocumented, or handled differently by different people.
We produce a data model, user role map, and UI wireframes. You review and confirm before we build โ this is where we catch the "actually, we do it differently on Fridays" moments.
We build the application and migrate your existing data. You run both the spreadsheet and the new system in parallel for an agreed period so nothing gets lost.
Training sessions for every user type, recorded and available for future onboarding. We don't close the project until your team is confident and the spreadsheet is retired.
Software that fits
how your business actually works.
Who has this problem
(probably you).
Operations-heavy SMEs
Logistics, construction, manufacturing, facilities management โ businesses where the operational complexity has quietly outgrown what a shared spreadsheet can safely handle, but a full ERP feels like overkill.
Finance & Accounting Teams
Financial models, budget trackers, and reconciliation sheets that have grown into critical systems โ with all the version control problems and formula errors that implies. We rebuild the logic in an auditable, access-controlled environment.
HR & People Ops Teams
Leave tracking, performance review cycles, onboarding checklists, and headcount planning โ all typically living in spreadsheets that grow in complexity until they become a liability. We turn them into proper tools with the appropriate data governance.
Spreadsheet migration questions, answered.
The questions we're asked most often about this service.
Ask us directly โDo you need access to our actual spreadsheets?
Yes โ a read-only copy of the spreadsheets is the starting point for everything. We treat them as confidential business data, sign an NDA before reviewing anything sensitive, and work from a sanitised copy where personal data is involved. The spreadsheets are your requirements document โ without them, we're guessing.
What if the spreadsheet logic is very complex or inconsistent?
Complex is normal โ that's usually why the spreadsheet can't be handed to a new employee without a two-hour explanation session. Inconsistent is also common, because spreadsheets are modified by different people over time without governance. The logic mapping stage is specifically designed to surface inconsistencies and resolve them with the business stakeholders before the build begins.
Will our existing data be migrated into the new system?
Yes โ data migration is included in every project. We write import scripts that pull your historical data into the new database, validate it against the new data model, and flag any records that need manual review before they go in. You don't lose the years of data that are currently locked in those files.
Is this really cheaper than a custom build from scratch?
Significantly, for the right type of project. The reason is that the requirements elicitation phase โ which is typically the most time-consuming and expensive part of any custom build โ is largely done. Your spreadsheets are your requirements. What we add is the database design, the access control model, and the user interface. For a straightforward operations or finance tool, this typically saves 40โ60% compared to a ground-up spec-and-build engagement.
